The position of House Manager/PA is often necessary for houses with several staff or more than one residence. They are usually responsible for the smooth running of the house, overseeing the domestic staff and providing training where necessary. They usually work on a one to one basis within a home office environment, managing both private and commercial matters. Their duties would include managing the entire home office, managing budgets and expenses, and diary management, such as organising travel and private entertainment. These individuals are highly skilled and practical, IT literate, with good knowledge of payroll and accountancy software packages.
